Activity Notes

Lollipop loop to Echo Point and Bonney Butte.

Bonney Butte is in the Badger Creek Wilderness and is one of the sites of the organization HawkWatch. I scheduled a group visit from 11:00A.M.-3:00P.M. to watch the birds (and hopefully see some up close!). Please be prepared to be stationary at the summit for a few hours with sun/wind exposure. You can also bring a book or game if you'd like. There is a campsite with a restroom about 3/4 mile from the Bonney Butte summit.

Carpool from Rock Haven at 7:00A.M. If you plan on driving yourself, I will email you the driving directions to the starting location. Suggested gas contribution is $11/passenger. No passes required.

This hike is weather permitting. The backup visit date is Sunday, September 28th. If both dates are poor weather, we will do the hike on Saturday without the HawkWatch visit.

8 miles, 2000' gain, 5500'/5400' summits

***Life is stressful, especially for minorities and marginalized people. But there's lots of studies showing that spending time outside with good company is good for the body and the mind! Therefore, I invite everyone to join me on my hikes!
