This is an C level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. C level hikes are difficult or strenuous hikes with either over 15 miles in distance or over 3,000 feet elevation gain. C level hikes require you to apply; once you apply you will receive an email within a few days letting you know if you have been accepted onto the hike.

Activity Notes

This hike covers about six miles and 1800 feet of elevation gain. After a short downhill start, the trail climbs steeply (approx 1000 ft over a mile) on rocky switchbacks. Careful footing is needed on the way back down. If conditions permit, hikers will have the option to venture out onto Quiver Point and Arrow Point for stunning views of the gorge. Both are narrow with steep drop-offs on both sides which is why I have rated this as a C hike. Applicants should be comfortable with scrambling and exposure.

We'll carpool from the MMC departing at 8:15 am or you can meet us at the High Valley Trailhead at 9.
