Activity Notes

Out-and-back on the East side of Mt. Hood. We'll go through Elk Meadows and up Gnarl Ridge to Lamberson Butte. We will have to cross Newton Creek on the way, which could be a potentially large creek crossing, depending on snowmelt. There will also be some brief, light scrambling at the top.

Carpool from Rock Haven at 6:45A.M. or you can meet us at Elk Meadows Trailhead at 8:00A.M. A Northwest Forest Pass is required. Suggested gas contribution is $10/passnger.

We may encounter snow towards the top.

10 miles, 2500' gain, 6600' summit

***One of my motivations for leading hikes is to provide opportunities to improve mental and physical health and build community. There's a lot of evidence that spending time outside in nature and socially engaging outside of work is good for the body and mind. Minorities tend to experience more stress, especially in today's political climate. Therefore, I invite all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, economic classes, religions, languages, and all other minorities to join me on my hikes!
