Activity Notes
Out-and-back on the East side of Mt. Hood in the Badger Creek Wilderness. We'll stop by Lookout Mountain, Palisade Point, and Flag Point. Palisade Point will involve a light scramble. Flag Point has a lookout tower that you can sometimes go into! Note, this is a rare summit hike where most of the elevation gain will be on the way back.
Carpool from Rock Haven at 6:45A.M. or you can meet us at High Prairie Trailhead at 8:30A.M. A Northwest Forest Pass is required at this trailhead. There will be a few miles of dirt road, but it hasn't been too awful in the past. Suggested gas contribution is $13/passenger.
We may encounter snow towards the top.
12 miles, 2400' gain, 5600/5800/6500' summits
***One of my motivations for leading hikes is to provide opportunities to improve mental and physical health and build community. There's a lot of evidence that spending time outside in nature and socially engaging outside of work is good for the body and mind. Minorities tend to experience more stress, especially in today's political climate. Therefore, I invite all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, economic classes, religions, languages, and all other minorities to join me on my hikes!
