Activity Notes
Mt. Adams – SW Chutes Ski/Climb (Single Day Push)
Join us for a big day on Mt. Adams as we climb and ski the iconic Southwest Chutes in a single push. We’ll sleep at the trailhead and start around 3:00 a.m., weather permitting, and ascend over 7,000 feet to the summit before skiing this classic descent.
This is a strenuous day and requires excellent fitness. Please ensure you're prepared for a long climb with significant elevation gain and feel comfortable skiing steep backcountry terrain.
Requirements:
- Solid backcountry ski or splitboard experience
- Avalanche awareness and familiarity with use of beacon, shovel, and probe
- All participants must carry standard avalanche gear (some gear can be borrowed from the Mazamas if you have completed appropriate training)
Please be sure your Mazama profile reflects your relevant ski and avalanche experience.
If you’re new to alpine objectives or unsure if this trip is right for you, feel free to reach out before registering. If registration is full and you meet the experience requirements, you're also welcome to email me to be added to the waitlist or considered as a late addition.
Required Gear
- Ice Axe / Crampons / Helmet
- Flotation (Skis/Board)
- Avy Gear (Beacon, Shovel, Probe)
