Activity Notes

We will begin at the Gumjuwac Trailhead on Highway 35, and will hike up the Gumjuwac Trail to the old Bennett Pass Road/Trail. From there, we will turn north and climb gradually to Lookout Mountain and its expansive views. There will be wildflowers and, if the skies are clear, amazing views from Rainier to the Sisters. We will take lunch there, and return the way we came.

There may yet be some snow to cross, as Lookout is 6500' high and is usually the last location in the MHNF other than Mt, Hood to lose its snow.

If you wish to carpool, we will meet at the at the Mazamas Mountaineering Center (527 SE 43rd Ave SE, PDX), at 7 AM.  If you wish to meet us at the trailhead, it is located HERE, and we will begin hiking at roughly 8:40 AM.
