Queerzamas Smith Rock climbing day

Activity Notes

Join the Queerzamas for a day of single-pitch climbing at Smith Rock State Park! Afterwards, join us for games, a potluck, camping, and more to celebrate Pride month at a nearby campground.

No prior outdoor climbing experience is necessary. Mazama climb leaders and volunteers will set up a variety of top-rope climbing routes in a consolidated climbing area (location TBD). Participants are expected to stick together for the duration of the activity. If you wish to climb separately, please communicate with the activity leaders.

We have reserved a group campsite nearby for both Friday and Saturday nights, with a suggested $10 donation to cover the reservation fee.

The registration fee helps to cover the use of Mazama equipment and insurance. We want everyone to feel welcome, despite financial barriers. If this is a challenge, please reach out to queerzamas@mazamas.org and we can try to help.

Additional activity details (including campground directions) or a cancellation notice will be released to registered participants by email no later than May 30, 2025.

• Climbing shoes

Note: Parking at Smith Rock State Park requires a parking permit. Day-use permits ($5) can be purchased on-site with a credit card. 12 month and 24 month annual passes are sold at the park's Welcome Center during scheduled hours of operation (hours vary). Annual passes are also available at Oliver Lemon's or Terrebonne Thriftway in Terrebonne, or online at www.oregonstateparks.org
