This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

This is one of five hikes we will do on the week of July 16 to 21. Come and camp in the area or drive up and meet us there. We will leave the Cougar Washington Rest Area at 9:30 Hike to a historic lookout point offering panoramic vistas of the volcano and surrounding area. We will hike through a aa lava filed and up on the mountain through a forested campsite. Out and back Hike is 8 miles and climbs 1,700 feet
