Activity Notes
We will be going out with Anders Carlson from Oregon Glacier Institute to try and measure the spring snowpack on the Eliot Glacier. Climbing experience is recommended but may not be required. Flotation of some type (skis/board/snowshoes)will be required.
Eliot Glacier Recording:
- Tour up from Tilly Jane and approach towards Cooper Spur
- Above the climber’s hut, look for the exposed rock cliff on the climber’s left of Eliot Glacier
- Descend from above to the rock promontory: 45.3816°, -121.6732°
- Make above recorded measurements; send to orglaciersinst@gmail.com
Record: date, latitude, longitude, elevation, and rope length as dropped from bedrock promontory down to the top of the snowpack
