Activity Notes
This itinerary is updated March 18, 2025 based on NPS preliminary information that Upper Hoh River Road should be in service by departure day.
Day 1, Wednesday July 2. Drive to Hoh River Trailhead (600’), 260 miles from Portland, estimate 5 hrs driving time. From Hoh River TH hike 9 miles to camp at Olympus Guard Station (1000’). Day total 5 hrs driving, 9 miles hiking, 400’ gain.
Day 2, Thursday July 3. From Olympus Guard Station hike 8.4 miles to camp at Glacier Meadows (4200’). Day total 8.4 miles, 3200’ gain.
Day 3, Friday July 4 summit day. From Glacier Meadows ascend 1 mile to ridge (5100’), descend to Blue Glacier (5100’), ascend 1.5 miles to Snow Dome (6900’), ascend 0.8 miles to West Peak 7969’. Retrace route to Glacier Meadows (1000’). Rest, then hike 7 miles, moving camp to Lewis Meadow (1000’). Day total 13.5 miles, 3600’ gain, 6800’ loss. 100% snow travel above camp.
Day 4, Saturday July 5. From Lewis Meadow hike 10.2 miles to Hoh River trailhead, drive home. Day total 10.2 miles hiking, 600’ loss, 5 hrs driving.
Expect 5 lbs group gear above your personal pack weight.
