Activity Notes

First in a series of conditioning hikes I'm hoping to lead.

This is one of my favorite hikes in the Columbia Gorge! We will pass Hardy Falls, Rodney Falls, the Pool of the Winds, and summit Hamilton Mountain! There are a few short sections of light scrambling and cliffsides on the way up. We'll do the loop on the way down. Afterwards we'll tack on the Beacon Rock hike.

We will carpool from the MMC at 6:30A.M. or you can meet us at Hamilton Mountain Trailhead at 7:20A.M. A Discover Pass is required at this trailhead. Suggested gas contribution will be $8/passenger. We'll be looking for at least 1 other driver.

Expect rain and light snow.

9.5 miles, 2900' gain, 2400' summit

***One of my motivations for leading hikes is to provide opportunities to improve mental and physical health and build community. There's a lot of evidence that spending time outside in nature and socially engaging outside of work is good for the body and mind. Minorities tend to experience more stress, especially in today's political climate. Therefore, I invite all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, economic classes, religions, languages, and all other minorities to join me on my hikes!

***This hike will take place on historically Chinook lands. If you would like to help this tribe be federally recognized, they have an active petition!
