Activity Notes
This is the third hike in a 4-hike series offered to help 2025 BCEP applicants improve their fitness for BCEP team hikes. Once you have submitted a BCEP application, you are welcome to sign-up for any or all hikes in this series. Other hikes in this series can be found on the calendar by looking for "Pre-BCEP Conditioning Hike". The actual hike and location may change depending on conditions, but the hike series will begin with an easy to moderate hike and then progress with increasingly more challenging hikes. These hikes will give you an opportunity to improve your fitness and to test out your hiking gear and clothing in winter conditions.
For this hike and many others in the winter, microspikes (or other traction devices) and hiking poles could be helpful. We will update conditions and equipment needs the week of the hike.
We'll depart from the MMC parking lot at 7:30am, or you can meet us at the Herman Creek trailhead at 8:20. This will be done as a counter-clockwise lollipop loop, up the Nick Eaton (gaining 2100 ft over 1.8 miles) and down the Gorton Creek with an optional walk out onto the Point. Totals for the hike are about 9 miles and 3100 feet of elevation gain. A NW Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required to park at the trailhead.
