Activity Notes
We will TRAVERSE over Council Crest, the highest point in Portland, from Marquam Nature Park to Washington Park.
Parking at Marquam Trailhead is limited to 2 hours, so I recommend parking at Washington Park by the MAX elevators. You do have to pay to park at Washington Park (unless you don't mind some extra walking from a nearby neighborhood). From the MAX elevators, we'll take the 6:55AM Blue MAX East to Pioneer Square then walk to 5th & Morrison Southbound and get on the 7:23AM TriMet Bus 8. This will take us to within 1/4 mile of Marquam Trailhead.
There is some light snow in the forecast.
5.5 miles, 700' gain
***One of my motivations for leading hikes is to provide opportunities to improve mental and physical health. There's a lot of evidence that spending time outside in nature and socially engaging outside of work is good for the body and mind. Minorities tend to experience more stress, especially in today's political climate. Therefore, I invite all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, economic classes, religions, languages, and all other minorities to join me on my hikes!
***This hike will take place on historically Chinook lands. If you would like to help this tribe be federally recognized, they have an active petition!
