Activity Notes
This will be a moderate 1-night winter backpacking trip, with snowshoeing and winter camping in Mount Hood National Forest.
We will begin Saturday, Dec 14 from Frog Lake SnoPark, heading to Upper Twin Lake as our campsite (a 3.5-mile trek via the Pacific Crest Trail and Lower Twin Lake). Once we set up camp near the lake, we'll have the flexibility to explore further, with an optional excursion to Palmateer Point—ideal for a night hike under the Cold Moon, or if conditions don’t cooperate, we can plan it for the following morning. On Sunday, December 15, we'll enjoy breakfast, break down camp, and begin our journey back to the trailhead, aiming to return by early afternoon.
BCEP or prior winter camping experience is preferred. Cold weather gear is required.
Alternate dates if snow conditions are not ideal in December will be January 11-12, 2025.
