Activity Notes

Greetings!
It was nice meeting those who could make it for the student orientation last week. I am looking forward to skiing with you all! For those who could not make it, everything you need to know is in either this email or the student handbook. But please text me or call if you have any questions: 503 347-4243. No bother at all. Sometimes I don't look at my phone before 5pm during week but will definitely get back to you that day. Week 1 we will start at the basics and work our way up.
Week 1:
We will start with the basics and work our way up. We will focus on a skill, ski, and then go to a second spot to focus on a new skill. I find it's nice to keep moving. In the afternoon, depending on spirits, we can pivot to some dedicated skiing only.

Where: Teacup
For the GPS: Teacup Nordic Snow Pk, 53126 OR-35, Mt Hood, OR 97041
When: 9am on Saturday January 25. Bring your lunch.
Details: Next Saturday we will meet at 9am at Teacup, it is a $25 donation to ski there and can be paid online. We will gather behind the bathrooms. We all agreed to drive through Hood River, which will hopefully mean that if there's bad traffic, we will at least all arrive around the same time. It also means that you do not need to stress. We will wait for you. It is about a 10 minute ski from the parking lot to the meeting spot. I will leave my house around 7:15am.
Getting there: You will need a sno-park pass.
Carpooling is a great idea - with this email you have each other's contact. If it's helpful, here is a carpool sheet. I have one more spot in my car and am flexible on where to meet. Hillary lives close to me so for now the plan is to leave from north portland.
Next steps: I will only send a second email if the plan changes. If the weather looks bad or unsafe, I will check-in by 9pm on Thursday about moving the ski day to Sunday. Otherwise, assume it's a go. Or text me if you have concerns or want to confirm. Sometimes another area that is slightly higher can be an option.
Teacup is groomed and we are close to our cars so it's a good day to try out a new set up or gear. We can also leave our lunches at the warming hut so plan for that. Or if it is not freezing, eating outside is an option. We can decide as a group.
Looking forward to it!
Ondie
