Activity Notes

Well maintained trail with old growth forest. There should be a lot of mushrooms, last year I saw a few purple ones. The trail follows the river until the wilderness boundary where it will become steeper, eventually reaching several overlooks into the river valley below. We will eat lunch and turn around at the large camp ~4.5 miles from the trailhead. The trailhead is just before the bridge. There are multiple other trails nearby. NW forest pass, America the Beautiful, or day pass is required. There is not a kiosk at the trailhead. We will carpool from the MMC leaving at 7:30 am or you can meet us at the trailhead at 8:45 am. Out-and-back 9.3 miles, 2000ft elevation gain total.

This is a provisional hike for Logan Mante to become a Mazamas hike leader.
