Activity Notes

Saddle Mountain opened up again in September 2023 after being closed for two years.  During the closure, they repaired trails and installed two pit toilets at the trailhead.  The trail is 5.2 miles long with about a 1900ft elevation gain.  Parts of the trail are pretty steep and the wire mesh treads have seen better days.  If we are lucky and the weather cooperates, the views at the top are spectacular.  On a clear day, you can look West to see the Pacific Ocean and see the Cascade Mountains to the East.  We will meet at Target at 185th and carpool from there. Update 9/5: I checked the NOAA weather report for the area and we are going to be much more isolated from the heat than our Willamette valley friends. Weather forecast in the coastal range will be 60-80 F for the duration of the hike. I included a map of the trail plan and the NOAA report below.
