Activity Notes
Everyone is welcome! You don't have to be a member to join a Ramble.
Please wear sneakers, hiking shoes or other footwear appropriate for hiking on streets and unpaved trails. Closed toe shoes are strongly encouraged. There may be rain or mud so please dress for the weather, and bring layers.
Flash light needed (sorry, your phone won't work for this!). A headlight can substitute for your flashlight. Test it at home to be sure it works and has good batteries.
No experience necessary and all people are welcome. No dogs or other pets please.
You will be hiking on hills, uneven terrain, and potentially slippery trails.
Many participants don't use poles but if you are more comfortable using them then please feel free to bring them.
You may want to bring a granola bar or other easy to eat while hiking snack (optional). We don't stop to eat.
A water bottle in small backpack is helpful.
A reflective vest is helpful but not required. No need to go buy one if you don't have one.
Please show up 5-10 minutes early.
There is plenty of free parking on the street or in the Mazama Mountaineering Center lot if there are no other events happening.
We will cover approx 4-6 miles in 2 hours at a good brisk pace.
We hike every Wednesday unless the temperature in Portland is above 95 degrees, or Portland Public schools close for snow/Ice. We do not have a hike on Thanksgiving day or Christmas day.
No smoking or vaping on hikes.
You don't have to be a Mazama to come, and this event is free. Please come join us!
