Trip leader has a limited number of (free) tickets reserved for the ranger-led tour of Native American rock art in the Horsethief Lake section of Columbia Hills State Park , 8514 Lewis and Clark Highway, Lyle, WA 98617.  These tickets are required to view the famous Tsagaglalal, or ?She Who Watches? sacred art. The area is otherwise closed to the public. The tour is about .75 mile and takes 90 minutes. The tour requires walking over uneven ground. We will meet at 8:45am in the parking area near the Horsethief Lake boat ramp ( located here ). The tour begins at 9:00am.  Tour information & FAQ are here. A Washington State Discover Pass is required to visit this park. One-day passes ($10) may be purchased at the park. The park has bathrooms and a campground.  For those seeking more adventure after this tour, the park offers Horsethief Butte, a climbing area, plus various hiking trails from the Crawford Oaks and Dalles Mountain Ranch trailheads located further east on Hwy 14. Note: Horsethief Lake is currently closed as of 8/15/24 due to a toxic algae bloom but may also be open for recreation by September 28th.
