This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

This is one of 5 hikes we will do on the week of September 9th. Come and camp in the area or drive up and meet us there. We will leave the Cougar Washington Rest Area at 9:30 Witness the raw power of volcanic activity as you navigate this dramatic landscape.   We hike above a rushing canyon stream. The trail has some mild exposure and requires navigating 2 steel ladders.  Out and back Hike is 6.6 miles and climbs 1400 feet
