Activity Notes

Join AYM for steep hike up to a lookout tower! The hike up to Devil's Peak is challenging, with almost 4000 feet of elevation gain, in about 11 miles, we will be going up the entire time. This hike plans to take the slightly longer route via Green Canyon Way and the Hunchback trail as opposed to going up Still Creek. If the weather cooperates we should have excellent views of Mt. Hood and the backside of Tom Dick and Harry Mountain.

Plan on meeting at the Gateway Transit center and departing at 7AM. For those who want to meet at the trailhead we will plan on leaving the trailhead around 8:30AM. I expect the hike to take most of the day. We will depart from the Green Canyon Campground. Because trailhead parking may be limited, please plan on carpooling if possible.

Everyone please bring your 10 essentials along with plenty of water and trail snacks/lunch. Depending on time there will likely be an opportunity to stop in Sandy for a brew and food for those who are interested.

Note, this is a steep hike and it will not be an easy one. It is not quite Mt. Defiance but harder than something like Dog Mountain. I like to keep a pretty fast pace if possible so please keep that in mind before applying.
