Activity Notes
Queerzamas affinity group activity. Let's kick off Pride Month with a fun, moderate Gorge hike about 1.5 hours away from Portland! This is a hike filled with views of the eastern Columbia River Gorge, and wildflowers, including a few rare species, are abundant. We will ascend from the Rowena Crest Viewpoint (maintained by Oregon State Parks as part of Mayer State Park) onto Nature Conservancy property, heading across the Tom McCall Nature Preserve to Tom McCall Point. This hike will be approximately 3.5-4.5 miles with 1,000-1,300 feet of elevation gain. We will head toward the "second summit" which is about 0.5 miles beyond the "first summit." We can decide to get some bonus miles in at the beginning or end if we want to explore Rowena Crest (a flat area but with beautiful views). Keep in mind: There are no parking permits required but I encourage us to carpool with each other from the MMC There are risks of poison oak, ticks, and sun exposure (not much tree cover)Registration is Closed
