Avalanche awareness re-certification session for Climb Leaders and LD candidates.

We're not going to do an in-person lecture, instead all participants must review the list of mandatory material below prior to the field session.  Please make a note of any questions and bring them with you.

MATERIAL TO REVIEW BEFORE SESSION :

It is mandatory that you complete these videos before the session. Failure to review all required materials will disqualify you from badge recertification.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Day-trip snow travel gear of any kind (skis with skins or snowshoes recommended)
  • Shovel, probe, avalanche beacon with batteries, and snow saw if you have them 
  • 3 AAA batteries if you will be using a Mazamas’ avalanche beacon
  • Warm clothes, extra gloves, hand warmers, sunscreen, lunch, and plenty of water
  • Weather info and current Avy forecast
  • Any questions you have after reviewing the videos above
  • Activity Prospectus
