Activity Notes
1/16/2024 Update: MMC 1 Skill session starts 6pm at MMC Holman auditorium
3-23-24 update
Students please bring your helmet, harness, carabiners, ATC, prusiks etc. Please SEE gear list and please bring all the listed items.
We will demo use of a gri-gri but will be using the ATC for this session.
Rock shoes are not needed but can be used if you want to use them. No chalk is allowed.
You might want to try climbing in sneakers or boots (it will be more realistic)
No open toe shoes.
Anyone with hair longer enough to pull back in a rubber band, please do so. Hair or clothing caught in a belay device is not fun!! Please dress in layers. May be hot or cold in the MMC.
We are sharing the space with another team so be prepared for noise and lots of other people. We know this could be overwhelming so if you need a five-minute break to get away from the commotion you can go up in the rope room or into another part of the building. Self-care is encouraged. Let Lisa or Duncan know what you need.
Safety is important. We cannot be watching everyone at every moment so you are each responsible for your own safety. Please don't do anything that seems unsafe. If you have questions or concerns, please ask Lisa or Duncan.
No student will belay another student without an assistant backing them up. No rappelling without an assistant checking your system prior to you leaving the ledge.
Please review all the videos in this module:

Which include rock climbing, belaying, and rappelling.
