With beautiful views, amazing spring wildflowers, and a relatively short effort, this is one of the most popular hikes in the Gorge. On a good day, you can get a view of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River.

Activity Notes

Note: This hike was originally posted as Larch Mountain. However, due to reports of washouts, slides and debris caused by the recent heavy rains, the hike will now be on Dog Mt.

We'll carpool from the MMC parking lot departing at 7:30am, or you can meet us at the trailhead at 8:30. A NW Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required to park at the trailhead.

We will go up the steeper of the two trails for a good workout. Depending on conditions and group consensus, we will return by either the other side of the loop or via the Augspurger Trail which adds just under a mile but is easier on the knees.

The top of Dog Mt often experiences high winds. Please be prepared for windy, cold conditions.
