The Mount Defiance hike is a steep hike with great views of the surrounding mountains on a clear day. You can make it a loop hike by going up the Starvation Ridge Trail and back down the Mount Definance Trail or you can go out and back on the same trail. Activity Notes

We'll hike Mt. Defiance as the last conditioning hike of the class. We'll split into two groups to abide by the Wilderness regulations concerning team size. One team will hike up Starvation Creek and down the Mt. Defiance Trail and the other will hike up the Mt. Defiance trail and down Starvation Creek.

After the hike, we'll camp overnight at the Deschutes River State Recreation Area beofre Sunday's practical exam at Horsethief Butte.
