BCEP 2024 Team 06: Double Crown Hike

Activity Notes

We'll hike in Forest Park, meeting at the Blue Star Donuts on SW Jefferson St. in Goose Hollow.  During the hike, we'll take breaks to cut prussik cords and learn knots. In addition to the knots listed on the Basecamp Rope Care & Knots page , we?ll also cover the Butterfly coil, for tying up a climbing rope for travel, and the Daisy Chain (aka Chain Sinnet ), for tying up gear so you can stow it on your harness. We'll also have you set up and practice belaying and rappelling without a load. Because of a trail closure, this will actually be more of a Double Crown, as we won?t be able to go to Council Crest. We'll hike a route that will allow us to visit the Arboretum and Pittock Mansion and be back to Blue Star Donuts ~2pm at the latest.
