Snowshoe up White River Canyon

Activity Notes

Come along for a snowshoe during peak of the Geminids meteor shower. Views of Mt Hood with the winter night sky. Geminids are caused by a possible planetoid called 3200 Phaethon. Its meteors have long contrails and intensify every year, recently reaching 160 per hour under optimal conditions. We'll start an hour after rise of the radiant, Gemini. Required: Snowshoes and headlamp with red option + extra batteries. Sno-park permit required if driving. *** Adventurous Young Mazamas (AYM) offers outdoor activities year-round targeted to younger adults in their 20s & 30s. All activities are open to everyone eighteen and over who can safely participate in our events.
