For purely logistical reasons, "acceptance" of applicants will start on September 28th (one month before the course start date).   Two day weekend course at Horsethief Butte, with camping at Maryhill Campground included (Fri and Sat nights). This course will teach relevant trad gear/anchors for classic small team trad climbing scenarios. This course will be an intensive two day 100% infield experiential learning course about: traditional climbing gear (e.g. cams, nuts & hexes, tri-cams) gear placement gear inspection and rock inspection gear cleaning piece extension anchor rigging natural pro-- how to select, and how to use NOTE: No lead climbing or lead belaying   Prerequisites: Basic rock climbing knowledge including usage of climbing harness and climbing helmet, top rope climbing, and knots: rewoven figure-8, figure-8 on a bight, overhand, overhand on a bight, double fisherman, clove, girth. Rappelling skills/experience are not required, but would allow participants to rappel off their anchors.   Gear: Required: climbing harness (w/ belay loop and gear loops) climbing helmet 3x locking carabiners 3x non-locking carabiners personal pro leash tubular belay device for two rope stands + belay carabiner (e.g. Black diamond ATC) sturdy shoes for scrambling around backpack + layers + snacks + water Optional: nut tool trad gear (if you own or borrow some)   Structure: Two eight hours days infield at Horsethief Butte, no designated lunch breaks. Overnight car camping at Maryhill Campground (reservation included in price of course). 6:1 student:instructor ratio maximum
