Activity Notes
Who:
Beginning-to-intermediate alpine climbers eager to complete a snow ascent of a glaciated peak in the beautiful Sisters wilderness. Recent BCEP graduates are especially welcomed! People from historically underrepresented groups like LGBTQ, BIPOC and women climbers are also encouraged! My goal is to create a supportive and cohesive team.
What:
South Sister is the tallest of the three peaks and a popular Oregon climb because of its proximity to Bend and the ability to summit it without a rope.
Where:
South Sister via the Devil’s Lake Trailhead
When:
A car-to-car climb Sunday, June 11, 2023. We will depart the Devil’s Lake trailhead (north side of the road - not the parking lot) at 3 AM. We plan to summit Sunday morning, then descend and return to cars Sunday afternoon.
Why:
Beautiful views and good times with friends! This is also one of the 16 Peaks of the Cascades and a provisional lead to help Stacey learn and advance to becoming a full-fledged climb leader.
