Weekday climb of our beloved Wy'East!

This is a climb of the south side of Wy'east (Mt. Hood), which means that the ultimate route from the Hogsback will be determined by the conditions of the day. This may be via the Old Chute, the Pearly Gates or the Mazamas Chute. Be prepared for steep snow climbing. This can include free climbing or fixed line travel using crampons and ice ax. Based on this a second ice tool is often useful.

As we climb we acknowledge the people that were here before us.  "The Molalas, Kalapuyans, Chinookan Clackamas, Shinookan Wascos, Northern Paiute peoples, and Sahaptin speakers all lived within the area and many of them called the mountain Wy’East." Wy'east still holds vital importance to the the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs. Please learn more about their history at: https://warmsprings-nsn.gov/
