Coldwater Peak is a hike in the summer, and a non-technical climb in the winter through spring. The trail will still be partially snow covered through May, and the final approach involves traversing a steep snow field above Helen Lake, requiring ice axe and crampons. It should be considered an A-level climb until the snow has melted out.
