Activity Notes

Advanced Rock is hosting a 2-session skill-builder to impart the skills necessary to get you on your first big wall.

Over the course of the two sessions, hosted at the Mazama Mountaineering Center, you will learn the basics of aid leading, hauling, jugging, completing lower outs, and setting up a portaledge.

This class will NOT cover:

  • trad gear placement
  • anchor building
  • lead belaying or lead climbing
  • multipitch techniques

(Students should be well familiar with the above skills before applying)

In order to join this course, students must be graduates of Advanced Rock or demonstrate a robust climbing resume with at least 5 trad multipitches as a leader in the last year, along with a belay certification at a local gym.
