Activity Notes

This is a two day adventure with a hike up Lookout Mountain on Saturday, car camping at fifteen mile campground Saturday night, and then a wonderful 9.2 mile loop on Fifteen mile creek on Sunday.  I have found these good hikes for this time of year in that the area East of Mt. Hood is drier.  That said, expect rain and hope for sun.  The Lookout Mountain hike from Highway 35 is 2800 feet of elevation gain and round trip is 10 miles.  It offers great views of the East side of Mt. Hood.  The Fifteen Mile Creek Loop is 9.2 miles and 1800 feet of elevation gain.  We will leave Gateway Transit Center at 8am Saturday.  The hike up Lookout should end around 4pm and the short drive of 45minutes to the Fifteen mile campground should give us plenty of time to set up for the night.  We will decide among ourselves for a start time on Sunday but the plan is to be back to Gateway at 4pm Sunday.  Bring two lunches, evening meal, and one breakfast of your choosing.  I will be bringing two stoves in case someone needs to borrow one.  Bring a tent, sleeping bag for the chilly October nights, and other items to be safe and comfortable for the night outside.
