Train the Trainer Pilot 2020: Experiential Instruction

This course is for volunteers interested in experiential instruction.

The course will focus on educational techniques in the context of teaching out of doors, and will be a combination of self-paced online learning, a Zoom orientation, and one field session. At the end of this course, volunteers will have designed, practiced, and received feedback on a lesson plan of their choice.

Welcome! This course is designed to give instructors an understanding of key concepts in experiential education, as well as tools for their teaching toolbox.

This is a hybrid course. It will include some virtual meeting sessions that allow students to share ideas and practice some of the methods and concepts. It will also include documents and videos that allow for self-paced learning in between virtual meeting sessions.

We encourage you to allow plenty of time for the self-paced learning sections so that you can get the most from this course. By completing the coursework early, you’ll have time to think about how the concepts can be integrated into the things you’re teaching.

At the end of the course, you’ll have an opportunity to write a detailed lesson plan for a subject you plan to teach, and get feedback from your peers and instructors.
