The Mazamas have a 75-year history of climbing education. We launched our education programs with a version of our ever-popular Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP) in 1943.

Over the years we have expanded our offerings to include intermediate and advanced climbing classes, ski mountaineering, first aid, and many more.

Typically, our annual course schedule looks something like this:

July

  • Registration for Intermediate Climbing School (ICS) opens
  • Registration for Families Mountaineering 101 (FM101) opens
  • Basic Rock is held

August

  • ICS & FM101 begin
  • Canyoneering concludes

September

  • CPR Classes

October

  • Registration opens for Backcountry Skiing
  • CPR Classes
  • Wilderness First Aid classes

November

  • Registration opens for Nordic
  • Fall MFA skill builder
