Activity Notes

Obsidian Trail runs along the base of the high Cascades in the Three Sisters Wilderness Area--which given the big snow pack this may mean places of snow along the trail (i.e., dress for a wide-range of weather conditions, and bring microspikes and trekking poles).

  • Leader Contact Info: David Rempel, Ph# 928 587-0511; email crempel2@yahoo.com.
  • 4:00 a.m. departure from Clackamas Mall TC/MAX station. Plan on being there 10-15 minutes early (to organize and arrange carpooling) so we can leave on time.
  • 7:20 a.m. (+/-) start hike at trailhead.
  • Bring your 10-essentials.
  • Plan on lunch and a minimum of 4 liters of water consumption (creeks available on upper end for those wishing to filter water).
  • NW Pass/federal day pass parking at trailhead.
  • Obsidian Trail is a limited access area--we have 8 (heart beat) access passes, so sorry, no dogs on this one.
