The Trout Creek Trail is a six mile long flat trail that follows at river's edge along the non-reservation side of the canyon of the Deschutes River near Warmsprings. This semi-arid region is deep in the heart of rimrock country, and filled with a surprising array of flora and fauna. Among flyfishers, this is known as a blue ribbon trout stream, and is a wildlife photographer's mecca, with eagles, osprey, otter, beaver and deer commonly seen.

Activity Notes

Springtime is a great time to hike along the edge of the Deschutes River. The Mecca Flats/Trout Creek Trail is a 6 mile walk-through (i.e., one-way) hike in the canyon of the Deschutes between Warmsprings and the Trout Creek confluence with the Deschutes. We will hike 8-10 miles (round-trip). Weather should be warm and dry this time of year, but could still be vulnerable to spring showers, so watch the weather forecast and dress/carry gear accordingly.
