Activity Notes

Meet at Mather Rd Trail head at 9am for the Mt Talbert Loop hike. Flora Huber 503-658-5710. Hike 1.9 miles with 490 feet of elevation gain.
From the Mather Road Trailhead take the Mather Road Trail up the hill. The trail switches back through oak leaves and spring flowers for about 1/4 mile to the Park Loop Trail. Turn left and hike 1/10 of a mile to the West Ridge Trail. Turn right here and head up the West Ridge Trail through a small meadow.
The next junction you'll find is right at the crest of a small ridge. Turn right on the Summit Trail and head up the last 1/4 mile to the Mount Talbert Summit. The views from here are pretty poor, but it's a good spot to see Oaks Toothwort in the spring. Continue straight across the summit and you'll start down the other side.
3/10 of a mile later, you'll reach another section of the Park Loop Trail. Look for blacktail deer in this area near sunset. Turn right and walk about 1/10 mile to the Mather Road Trail. Turn left and head downhill back to your car.
