Activity Notes

 

Meet at Mather Rd Trail head at 9am for the Mt Talbert Loop hike. Flora Huber 503-658-5710. Hike 1.9 miles with 490 feet of elevation gain.<br> From the Mather Road Trailhead take the Mather Road Trail up the hill. The trail switches back through oak leaves and spring flowers for about 1/4 mile to the Park Loop Trail. Turn left and hike 1/10 of a mile to the West Ridge Trail. Turn right here and head up the West Ridge Trail through a small meadow.<br> The next junction you'll find is right at the crest of a small ridge. Turn right on the Summit Trail and head up the last 1/4 mile to the Mount Talbert Summit. The views from here are pretty poor, but it's a good spot to see Oaks Toothwort in the spring. Continue straight across the summit and you'll start down the other side.<br> 3/10 of a mile later, you'll reach another section of the Park Loop Trail. Look for blacktail deer in this area near sunset. Turn right and walk about 1/10 mile to the Mather Road Trail. Turn left and head downhill back to your car.
