Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Activity Notes

This is a mock climb from the Timberline Climber's Lot to the top of the Palmer Ski Lift.  We will practice snow skill including foot work, running belay, possible fixed line, simple belay techniques, glissading and self/team arrest.  crampon/snow technique, rope travel, fixed line and running belay travel.

Crampons and mountaineering boots are not required but are suggested!  The weather looks cold and this will be a better environment for using these tools than our snow session was.
