Mt. Thielsen East Peak is the 75th highest peak in Oregon. It is about a mile ENE of Mt. Thielsen.

Activity Notes

Please note Mt. Thielsen East Peak is NOT “the” Mt. Thielsen, but a lower peak to the NE, also called Holly’s Ridge.  You do get an amazing view of Mt. Thielsen.

We start at the Howlock Mt. Trail #1448 trailhead (5,300’) off the Diamond Lake Loop Road. At 3.5 miles (6,100’) we may hit snow and turn right to Thielsen Creek Trail #1449.  At 5.7 miles we reach the PCT (6,940’), then continue up the drainage SSE to intersect the SW extension of Hollys Ridge.  We follow the ridgeline ENE to the summit (8,178’). It’s about a mile from the PCT to the summit. There may be snow on the route and we will plan to carry ice axes and crampons.
