This is an C level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. C level hikes are difficult or strenuous hikes with either over 15 miles in distance or over 3,000 feet elevation gain. C level hikes require you to apply; once you apply you will receive an email within a few days letting you know if you have been accepted onto the hike.

** Update Friday January 12 - due to a winter ice warning in the gorge we are likely moving this hike to Stassel and Shellburg falls which are located south of Silver Falls State Park. **

Columbia Gorge, Washington side, above the town of White Salmon. We will hike up through the the grass, oak and ponderosa pine covered slopes up to the top of 2200' Burdoin Mountain. Fine views of the dry side of the gorge and Mt Hood if we're lucky.
