A longer tour for Advanced skiers, this trail follows a rolling forested ridge with occasional views. 2.4 miles in you'll reach the Terrible Traverse, a steep 180 yard traverse on an exposed slope. Pass through Gunsight Notch, and reach Bonney Junction at mile 4.3. From here, turn right (south) to Bonney Butte for a 12-mile, 1500' day with an amazing view from the top!

Activity Notes

Skijoring is cross-country skiing with your dog! This is NOT a suitable outing for first-time skijoring.  

Intermediate to advanced cross-country skills recommended.  Dogs who have skijored before are welcome!

This is a 11.6 mile out and back over easy to moderate terrain.  Expect a moderately speedy pace (~3 mph) and minimal breaks.  The first 4.3 miles from Bennett Pass to Bonney Junction have a couple good viewpoints.  Exploratory - I have not skied the last 1.5 miles from Bonney Junction to Bonney Butte before.
