Activity Notes

Escape summer heat with a trek along the beach of Olympic National Park, from Hoh to La Push. 3900' and 34 miles total.

We'll begin at dawn by traveling 6.8 miles to Toleak Point, and camping one night. This is an intensive hike down the beach: you will climb rope ladders with additional supportive ropes to navigate steep trails over headland passes. Campfires are allowed and sunset can be gorgeous.

Depending on progress, we'll continue from here with an afternoon hike further down the beach or meander around camp. Seals are nearby, eagles are nice, and at ebb visit the tidal pools.

Olympic backcountry permit is required and must be obtained at the Olympic Wilderness Center in Quinalt before driving to the coast ($8/night). The Olympic National Park charges an $8 fee per person per night, bring cash to pay your share. A bear canister is required to keep the raccoons out of your food. You can get a canister at the Wilderness Information Center (hours) if they are available.
