This is an B level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. B level hikes are moderate or more challenging hikes with either less than 15 miles in distance with between 1,500 and 3,000 feet elevation gain or between 8 and 15 miles in distance with less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes

This beautiful spring hike takes us to central Oregon on BLM land near Maupin. It offers beautiful views of the Deschutes River canyon as well as a nice wildflower display and panoramic views of central Oregon. It is a long drive so plan on a long day, 250 miles RT. The hike is 11 miles out and back with 1400ft elevation gain. This is tick country so wear pants and bring sunglasses, hat with visor and sunscreen.
