Mt. Carrie is the highest mountain in the Bailey Range of the Olympic Mountains. Carrie's mystique is further enhanced by its being guarded by the infamous Catwalk. It is a moderate climb with spectacular views of Mt. Olympus and the rest of the Bailey Range.

Activity Notes

This is an exploratory climb, the leader has not climbed this route before

Here is the general plan:

Tuesday July 30th: Drive up to Port Angeles

Wednesday July 31st: Hike to base camp via Soleduck Trail.

Thursday August 1st: Cross the Catwalk to make our summit bid, then return to base camp.

Friday August 2nd: Hike back to the trailhead via High Divide Trail.

Expect 3rd class exposed scrambling on the Catwalk and the 2nd class traversing across screen and snow slopes on Mt. Carrie.

The cost of the permit will be shared amongst all party members

Leader plans on soaking at Sol Duc Hot Springs after the climb. I plan on returning to Portland on Saturday.
