Activity Notes

This is a late season climb of Mt. Shasta. The Clear Creek route is very unlikely to be impacted by snow conditions at this time of year. However, fire weather may impact our climb. A gear list will be provided to the team and will probably only include camping and hiking gear.

Climb Plan

August 22nd-23rd: Leave Portland, meet at the Clear Creek TH at 9:00 AM on the 23rd. Hike in to high camp, between 8200 and 10,000 feet based on team preference and water resources.

August 24th: Alpine start with departure time determined by team preference and conditions. Return to high camp mid to late afternoon. Camp again or descend to the TH.

August 25th: Descend to TH and drive home.

As we climb we acknowledge the people that were here before us. The six federally recognized tribes within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest include the Redding Rancheria, Pit River Tribe, Hoopa Valley Tribe, The Klamath Tribes, Quartz Valley Indian Reservation and the Karuk Tribe. The seven non-federally recognized tribes include Winnemem Wintu, Tsnungwe Tribe, Nor-Rel-Muk Wintu Nation, Wintu Tribe of Northern California and Toyon-Wintu Center, United Tribes of Northern California, The Shasta Tribe Inc., and Shasta Indian Nation Please take time to learn about their history, culture and current affairs via this link: https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/stnf/workingtogether/tribalrelations#:~:text=The%20six%20federally%20recognized%20tribes,Reservation%20and%20the%20Karuk%20Tribe.
