The Mazamas have a long history of trail tending in the Pacific Northwest.

Tasks at these activities will often include cutting logs, trimming brush, and clearing drain dips. No experience necessary, but certifications such as crosscut saw training are very helpful!

See individual activities for details.

Activity Notes

Please join us on March 30th or April 13th for a collaboration with TrailKeepers of Oregon-TKO (https://trailkeepersoforegon.org/) and help get our favorite Gorge trails in shape for the spring hiking season.

TKO will provide the tools, safety gear, training and supervision, and we provide the Mazama power!

We will meet at the MMC to carpool early in the AM (exact time TBD), and should be back by 4 PM.

This will be the first in a series of trail tending events we will be collaborating with TKO on, and as the snow melts we will be working higher and higher on Mt. Hood and in the Gorge, including some of the iconic trails we have been using as conditioning hikes for decades, including trails such as Ruckel Creek and Tanner Butte that have been closed since the Eagle Creek fire.
