Maple Trail is a lush, somewhat secluded trail within Forest Park. Maple Trail begins and ends at the Lower Saltzman Trailhead and you can do the loop either clockwise or counterclockwise. The loop involves sections of Wildwood and Leif Erickson Drive. Please note: the Lower Saltzman Trailhead is notorious for car break-ins. Leave nothing of value in your car; preferably leave it as empty as possible so as to not entice thieves.

Activity Notes

We will meet at the bottom of Saltzman Road (Hwy 30) and carpool up to the Trailhead.  We will follow the Maple Trail north to Lief Erickson and then go up to the Wildwood Trail. We will follow the Wildwood until it meets the Maple Trail and follow it back to Saltzman.  We will have lunch where the Maple Trail crosses Lief Erickson.  The hike is about 7.6 miles with about 1000ft of elevation gain.  Parts of the trail will be muddy. <br>
